The Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)

High sensitivity is a personality trait identified and explored in depth by Dr. Elaine Aron. It is found in 15-20% of the population and is characterized by a heightened awareness of one's surroundings and emotions. Highly sensitive people tend to be more empathic and intuitive, and may experience emotions more deeply than others. This trait can be both a strength and a challenge, and understanding it can help individuals navigate their lives with greater self-awareness and compassion.

 Living With High Sensitivity

Living with high sensitivity can be challenging, but it is not a deficiency or pathology. It is merely a way of being in the world that likely already brings you incredible depth of feeling, perception, and richly textured experiences of all kinds. Individuals with high sensitivity can sometimes feel like "canaries in the coal mine," as they often perceive environmental signals before others do, and this can lead to feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or misunderstood. Coming to know and understand yourself deeply as a highly sensitive person is key.

Thriving as a Highly Sensitive Person

There are strategies that can help you manage the challenges and tap into the strengths that your sensitivity can offer. Some effective approaches include practicing self-compassion, setting healthy boundaries, relating to emotions, exploring the dominant myths and archetypes present in your life, working directly with the nervous system, and engaging in self-care activities when needed. As a highly sensitive person myself, I am dedicated and passionate about helping you uncover the resources and support best suited to help you thrive as a highly sensitive person.
